Activities

Field Visit (5 June 1990)

NJ34SW 35 3463 4382

This building, which has at least two compartments, is shown roofed on both the first and the second edition of the OS 6-inch map (Banffshire 1872, xix; 1905, xix SW). Traces of a second building are visible about 100m to the E (NJ 3470 4383). This is one of about twenty farms and crofts shown on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map on the hill to the E of Kininvie; with the exception of Stockley (NJ 330 444) and Brawlands (NJ 338 438), there is little evidence of the rest on earlier county maps (Robertson 1822; Thomson 1831).

Visited by RCAHMS (DCC), 5 June 1990.

Desk Based Assessment (November 2012 - October 2015)

CFA Archaeology Ltd undertook an assessment of the potential impacts of the proposed wind farm on the cultural heritage and archaeology within the study area. It details the results of a desk-based assessment and reconnaissance field survey carried out for the site. Fifty-one cultural heritage assets (sites and features) have been identified within the site. The majority of these are associated principally with 19th century settlement and agrarian activity. No prehistoric remains have been recorded in the site.
