NO12NE 38 1708 2580.
For other hut-circles in the vicinity, see NO12NE 14.
This hut-circle, which displays evidence of two periods of occupation, is situated on a terrace immediately downslope from the SE ramparts of the fort NO12NE 2. The interior has been levelled into the slope on the N and is slightly oval on plan (measuring 10m from E to W by 10.6m transversely); the entrance is on the E. The boulder-faced wall of the second phase measures up to 1.4m in thickness and up to 0.5m in internal height, but on the S and SSW there are traces of an earlier line of facing-stones lying up to 1.2m outside the outer face.
What may be the remains of a small enclosure are visible on the NE side of the hut-circle.
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 8 June 1989.
