Archaeology Notes

NY59SW 10 c537 928.

(Approx NY 537 928) Kellyly with tower symbol on Ponts map of Liddesdale (1608).

The approximate location falls near Kelly Cleuch burn on a W-facing slope now under forestry. Nothing significant was noted on perambulation of the area. Dr Robson (Hawick Museum) suggests the probability of a vaulted house in this vicinity but doubts the existence of a strong tower.
