(NY 2500 9146) Earthwork (NR)

OS 6" map (1957)

A fragmentary work published as 'Stone Ring' on County 6" of 1898/1947, but not published on 25" of 1858, nor, apparently listed in ONB of 1857/1898. It is described by OS Small Scales Reviser as in poor condition. Slight traces of the circular bank remain along the roadside, but there are no remains within the wooded area.

Visited by OS Reviser (DAD) 11 June 1952

Information from OS Recorder (DA) 21 February 1967

This earthwork has been destroyed by road construction and afforestation. The enclosure published on the OS 25" measures about 32m in diameter within a bank about 7m wide, and only two small unsurveyable lengths of this bank remain. The situation, adjacent to a river cliff, is typical of settlements in the area.

Visited by OS (DWR) 9 October 1973

No change to previous field report.

Visited by OS (BS) 17 October 1978.

NY 2500 9159. Earthwork: ploughed and planted.
