NY28SE 10 c. 271 827.
(Approx NY 271 827) Two hut circles and the remains of a third, all "of the usual type" and measuring some 20ft in diameter, lie near the base of Doe's Hill, halfway between the fort NY28SE 6 and Winterhopehead (NY 272 822).
RCAHMS 1920, visited 1912.
The majority of the indicated area now lies on regularly cultivated ground and any circles would have been effaced. Two small circular features are visible at NY 27138284 on RAF APs (540/1540 0033-4) but they cannot be identified on the ground and may only be drainage marks.
Visited by OS (MJF) 1 September 1979.
The 'hut-circles' noted by the RCAHMS have been destroyed, but were most probably ring-enclosures. Other groups of this class of monument (most notably NY28SE 20 and NY28SE 25 ) survive locally, most notably around Winterhope and Kirtlehead steadings.
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 30 June 1993.
