NX95NE 9 976 569

NX 976 569. A small Group VI (Langdale) polished stone axe, ploughed up in March 1969 on Maxwellfield farm, is in Dumfries Museum (Accession no: 1969-121).

A E Truckell 1969; J Williams 1970.

This axe has been re-ground. It has been petrologically attributed to group VI (objects of epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
