Aerial Photographic Transcription (23 March 2012)

Note (20 December 2013 - 23 May 2016)

Cropmarks have revealed the site of a ploughed out fort on a low ridge just inland from the escarpment dropping down to the shore NE of Arbigland. Oval on plan. it measures about 105m from NNE to SSW by 50m transversely (0.4ha) within twin ditches about 5m in breadth and set 10m apart; allowing for an inner rampart about 5m in thickness the interior of the fort would have been about 0.3ha. Only the eastern half of the circuit is known and this does not appear to include the entrance.
