Archaeology Notes

Widely spread ditches aligned NW-SE.

B Jones 1979; A E Truckell 1984.

Aerial photography (by Jones) has revealed the cropmarks of two sinuous ditches set about 20m apart, which run parallel for a distance of about 140m from NW to SE before converging slightly towards the Redbank Burn. The ditches run obliquely across sloping ground.

The monument is plotted as a bank barrow on a distribution map of Neolithic monuments covering southern Scotland.

Information from RCAHMS (ARG), 7 April 1998.
