Archaeology Notes

NC80SE 20 85 00.

There is a cave in the hill above Dunrobin from which tradition says there is a subterranean passage extending 4 Scotch miles to the S side of Little Ferry. Explorers have been forced to give it up by the roughness underfoot and the wet.

Statistical Account (OSA) 1799.

No further information obtained.

Visited by OS (E G C) 7 April 1962.

From lack of local information of a cave fitting this description and siting, that at NC 8360 0295 (see NC80SW 8) may well be the one in question.

Visited by OS (J M) 28 August 1975.
