NC80SE 15 850 008.

A Viking iron axe from the shore by (Grieg 1940) or near (Information from TS Catalogue of Dunrobin Museum, by A S Henshall) Dunrobin Castle (NC 850008) is in the museum there (Accession no. X121). It is very badly corroded and is partially bent out of shape but has measured 19cms. in length.

In 1925 an iron ring, about 5.4cms. in diameter, was on display with the axe, suggesting that they had been found together, but it was not noted in 1966 (Information from Catalogue of Dunrobin Museum).

S Grieg 1940.
