(NX 81167518) Martyr's Tomb (NAT)

This tombstone, renewed in 1823, marks the grave of four Covenanters, John Wallace, William Heron, John Gordon and William Stewart, who were shot here on the 2nd March 1685 by Captains Bruce and Lag. It bears an inscription to this effect.

Nearby is the Larg Hill Martyrs' Monument, erected in 1843 (at NX 8100 7508).

A burial vault situated in a small circular enclosure on Bads Knowe. It is 2.0m long by 1.0m by 0.6m high and the cover stone bears a now illegible inscription. Name not verified. The 19th century monument on the summit of Bad Knowe is a granite pillar approx 15 ft high.
