Archaeology Notes

NX79NE 2 7759 9570.

The remains of a cairn, originally 52ft in diameter, lie some 300 yds directly in front of Craigencoon (NX 773 959), and some 75 yds from the road. There has evidently been a cist in the centre, which has been rifled.

RCAHMS 1920, visited 1913

NX 7759 9570. A mutilated turf-covered cairn situated on a slight eminence below steep SW-facing slopes. It is composed of small stones and has a maximum diameter of 9.0m and a height of 0.7m. The centre has been disturbed but there is no evidence of any significant features.
