Archaeology Notes

NX64SE 12 659 432

Though Coles notes cup-and-ring marks on rocks below high water mark on Little Ross island (centred NX 659 342), they were not found in 1911 or in 1965 after a careful search, and are unknown to the owner-farmer. The rocks on the island have many natural cavities and limpet-marks. Morris considers Coles' marks may be natural.

F R Coles 1895; R W B Morris and D C Bailey 1967.
