The site of the castle of Banck or Lagwine (Lagwine:NX 558 939) is about a quarter of a mile north of Carsphairn village. Said to have been destroyed by fire, it was the residence of the McAdams of Waterhead from which family John Lowden Macadam, the road improver, came.
J Barbour 1897
The given location describes the present site of Lagwine house and grounds at NX 5581 9390. However, this house on external appearance is a modernised 18/19thc cottage, and the outhouses and grounds show nothing significant. No local information of a traditional site for the castle was forthcoming.
