NX 567 912. Ring cairn, 10.97m diameter.
M L Ansell 1969
NX 5682 9109. A sub-circular enclosure situated on level rough pasture at approximately 975ft OD. The land falls gently away to SW with extensive views to the W and SW.
Measuring overall 11.2m N-S by 10.5m E-W, it comprises a largely earthen bank up to 2.0m wide and 0.3m high which has several centrally placed large stones up to 0.5m high. Three stones appear purposely set on edge, but other smaller stones are partially buried. There is no apparent gap and the level and featureless interior is covered by peat. It is generally denuded and is particularly spread on the SE side, distorting what was possibly a precise shape with set stone pattern. It could be the remains of a "ring" cairn or enclosed cremation cemetery, particularly as it lies on the extreme NW edge of an extensive clearance area (see NX59SE 18), and only 120.0m from the remains of a round cairn (NX59SE 14). See also NX98NE 5.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.
