An arc of ditch, possibly indicating the site of a settlement, is visible as a cropmark on oblique aerial photographs (Jones 1979); it cuts across the neck of a promontory in an angle in the course of the deeply-incised Boreland Burn. The ditch, which is about 2m across, encloses an area measuring about 78m from WNW to ESE by up to 50m transversely. There are two gaps in the line of the ditch on the N, the westernmost of which may have been an entrance. At the E end of the cropmark what may be a fragment of a shallow ditch survives in rough ground at the edge of the otherwise heavily improved grass field. There is no trace of the enclosure on the S and W where the ground slopes steeply down to the burn.
