Archaeology Notes

NC76NE 1 7607 6570.

(NC 7619 6572) A hut-circle, 6m in diameter, consisting of a circular setting of stones covered with grass.

R J Mercer 1981.

This is not a hut circle but a crudely-built early modern enclosure situated at NC 7607 6570 at the base of a cliff. It measures 6.5m E-W by 5.7m N-S within a wall built of boulders and smaller stones which have broken from the cliff. There is no trace of an entrance and the interior has not been levelled.

Visited by OS (N K B) 11 August 1981.
