(Area NX 383 701) Trenches and earthworks occur on an island in the River Cree where Loch Cree, which is only a widening of the river, ends, and near the Cruives of Cree (see NX37SE 4). One of the branches of the river is said to be artificial.

A Birrell 1938

This tree covered, artificially created, island is inaccessible. No trace of the ditches and earthworks referred to can be seen from the river bank.
