A stone, measuring 25cm by 10cm, 'found nearby' about 1917 is now built into the outside wall of Elrig House (NX34NW 109.00). Previously identified as part of a cross-head, the visible markings on it are considered by Morris to be prehistoric, consisting of 'two concentric rings (no centre cup), the outer ring gapped with two radial grooves ('keyhole type'), the inner complete, with a radial groove parallel with the others. Greatest diameter 10cm and carving depth 0.5cm.

W G Collingwood 1925
