Archaeology Notes

NC75NW 65 centred 739 579

See also NC75NW 60.

Centred at NC 739 579 are 2 hut circles (A and B), situated on a fairly steep east facing slope over-looking the Clachan Burn.

'A' is about 10.5m in diameter within a low wall spread to 2.0m. The east arc is overlaid by the later boundary wall of Achmore (NC75NW 37). No entrance is evident.

'B' heavily obscured by peat and heather, measures about 8.7m inn diameter within a low wall spread to 2.0m. The entrance is in the south east. There is no sign of contemporary cultivation in the immediate vicinity, although a few scattered clearance heaps can be seen about 150.0m to the north.

Surveyed at 1:10,000.

Visited by OS (J B) 19 September 1977.
