(NX 2479 5427) Cairn (NR)

OS 6" map (1957).

Some 500 yards WNW of Culroy, on a slight elevation, is a low heap of stones, 40ft in diameter, which resembles a demolished cairn. This is the object marked "cairn" on the 1" OS map; that so marked on the 6", some 120 yards west is not a cairn.

RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911.

NX 2490 5424. Situated on a small knoll are the gorse-covered remains of a cairn which measures 14.0m N-S, 13.5m E-W and 1.1m high. At the published site is a sub-rectangular, natural earthen knoll containing a few large boulders. It measures 20.0m E-W and 12.0m and 5.0m wide at its W and E ends respectively.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (TRG) 25 June 1976.
