There were two large cairns in the immediate vicinity of where cross- slab NX25SW 25 was found.

G Wilson 1876.

A cist, which contained a large urn, is in the ruins of a large circular cairn at the W side of the old Port William road, above the farm-steading of Mull of Sinniness.

(OS 6" (Prov) 1957 shows Cairn (NAT) at NX 2277 5175, and Cairn (NR) (site of) at NX 2267 5202 - see NX25SW 14.)

There is no trace of a cairn at the published site. At NX 2277 5175 is an outcrop of rock with modern stone clearance dumped upon it; there are many other similar features in this area.
