Archaeology Notes

NX25SE 10 2636 5166.

(NX 2636 5166) Cairn (NR).

OS 1:10000 map (1982)

A cairn 28' in diameter and 3'6" high. From its base an obtuse projection 10' long 12' broad at base and 8' at the end points north. It does not appear to have been excavated. About 80' to the north is a stony heap which appears to be a small circular hut; and 30' to the south is a small cairn 12' in diameter. Along the hillside to the west are other small cairns and huts with remains of old enclosures.

RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911

NX 2636 5166 A cairn 8.0m in diameter and 1.5m high. It has been spread slightly on the north, probably the result of robbing from the middle. Small enclosures, field walls and clearance cairns are visible on the surrounding hillside but none of these remains are of any great age.

Cairn Surveyed at 1:10 000.

Visited by OS (BS) 30 June 1976.
