Archaeology Notes

(NX 2462 5584) Lake Dwelling (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map (1957)

Faed (J Faed, Craigenveoch) thought there was a crannog in Loch Robin but Wilson expressed doubt in his notebook which he lent to the OS and which was obviously the authority for the publication on the OS map. RCAHMS note a small islet, overgrown with willows, towards the west side of the loch but their superficial examination revealed no evidence for or against its being a crannog.

G Wilson 1899; 1873; RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911

NX 2465 5584. A small natural island surrounded by reed and marsh. There is no evidence of a crannog here and no trace of one elsewhere in the loch.

Visited by OS (BS) 24 June 1976
