(NX 2920 4953) Cairn (NR)

OS 6" map (1957)

No cairn could be identified at this site by the RCAHMS in 1911.

RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911

M'Kerlie mentions that a cairn on the hill at this farm had been recently opened and a cist containing pieces of bone etc found; it is possible that it was being removed at that time.

P H M'Kerlie 1877

A much robbed cairn, mostly turf covered, at the top of a gentle rise in undulating ground. It measures 12.5m N-S, 12.0m E-W and is 0.5m high, with a small marker cairn in the N quadrant. Several large stones set in the edge of the NW quadrant appear to be the remains of a kerb. No trace of the cist could be found.

Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (TRG) 30 June 1976
