NX24NE 17 280 498.
Two perforated axe-heads from Alticry (NX 280 498) are in the possession of Hugh Wright, Alticry. One, which was found in a heap of field stones, measures 10 1/8" x 4 13/16 x 2 1/4". The other, found when cutting a drain through wet ground, measures 7 3/4" x 4 5/8" x 3". Both, of greywacke, are much worn.

(Reclassified as axe-hammers). These two Class I axe-hammer are held in Stranraer Museum under accession numbers Stra. 1966/80 and 1966/81 respectively. They have been petrologically attributed to Group XXVII (greywacke from the Southern Uplands of Scotland).
