(NX 1225 6218) Cairn (NR) (Site of)

OS map (1957)

This cairn has been almost entirely removed except for a slight, broken rim of earth and stones defining its perimeter. It has been oval, measuring 25.0m NE to SW by 22.0m transversely. The stony content of the cairn is seen along the line of the fence which cuts across its west side.

Re-surveyed at 1/2500 scale.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 27 February 1968

The remains of this cairn are as described.

Surveyed at 1/10,000 scale.

Visited by OS (JP) 4 May 1976

A robbed cairn is situated immediately NE of the coniferous plantation on Sheuchan Hill, about 190m SSW of the summit. It measures 22.5m in diameter but has been reduced to little more than a ring of cairn material about 3m thick and 0.4m in maximum height. An old field-bank crosses the cairn from NE to SW.

RCAHMS 1987, visited (SH) May 1985
