(Name centred: NX 1231 5994) Cults Mote (NR)
OS 25" map (1908)
The site of Cults Mote lies in an arable field about 200 yards north of Cults farm. It has long been under cultivation and is now a mere swelling on the surface of the field, about 3' in height showing many water-worn cobble stones over its surface.
RCAHMS 1912
NX 1238 5995 Construction of a wartime airfield has completely obliterated this feature. The area around is almost completely flat.
Revised at 25".
Visited by OS (RD) 28 February 1968
There are no visible remains of the 'slight eminence or small knoll' said to have been a motte which formerly stood 183m N of Cults steading. It was probably levelled during the construction of Cults airfield.
RCAHMS 1987, visited February 1986.
