This building is presumably the 'wooden ticket office and shed for passengers at the end of the main line at Portpatrick' that was ordered to be erected on 5 March 1862. It was apparently intended as an interim structure, pending completion of the permanent 'new' station (NX05SW 79).
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 16 March 2006.
