In Greenwood Moss, which lies on the moor behind Greenwood Farm, a bronze cauldron was found "a long time since" by peat diggers. It was made of thin plates of metal rivetted together.
Another bronze pot was dug up in Greenwood Moss and is now (1881) in the possession of Miss Stirling of Renton House. It is entirely smooth, the three ribbed feet are very short, and barely suffice to keep the pot off the ground. It is furnished with loops for a handle. The dimensions are: Height 11", circumference 33".

The position of Greenwood Moss was indicated on the 6" sheet by Mrs. Wight, of Greenwood, on whose land it is. It is centred at NT 842 655. Mrs Wight had no knowledge of the finds, and stated that peat is no longer dug locally.
No other information was obtained by local enquiry.
