Activities

Standing Building Recording (6 February 2015 - 8 April 2015)

NT 87391 55064 A standing building survey and demolition watching brief was carried out on a derelict mansion house situated on the Whitehall Estate to the south of Chirnside. The building was constructed in the early 18th century and originally occupies a rectangular footprint, although it has been greatly modified, with six main phases of development identified.

Demolition Application

Old Whitehall House was demolished through planning consent in April 2015. The building was recorded by RCAHMS and CFA Archaeology prior to an during demolition revealing a sequence of early and mid 18th century construction with 19th and early 20th century alterations.
