A series of stone-revetted (very rare in Roxburghshire) cultivation terraces runs aross the S slope of Fasset Hill in the vicinity of the homesteads (NT82SW 18 and NT82SW 41 and NT82SE 21). It seems possible that the system is contemporary with the second phase of occupation of the homesteads (see also NT82SE 26).
RCAHMS 1956.
There are several badly eroded cultivation terraces in this area.
Visited by OS (TRG) 12 August 1976.
Below the complex settlement remains (NT82SW 41) on the steep S-facing slope of Fasset Hill, there is an area of contour cultivation measuring 80m from E to W by 35m. The cultivation, which appears to be revetted with stone on the downhill side, measures 3.2m in width and stands up to 2m in height.
