(NT 84790 20352) Homestead (NR)
OS 6" map, (1962).
This homestead, on the S side of Fasset Hill, consists of a roughly rectangular enclosure, 100' NW-SE by 85' within a wall 6'6" thick. An old grass road borders the enclosure on the NE and cultivation terraces (NT82SW 44) impinge upon it on all sides. The enclosure wall has been heavily robbed but a few large facing stones still remain in situ. Owing to the spread of wall core, the entrance has been obscured, but it probably lay in the NW side. The interior is more or less equally divided between an excavated forecourt on the W and a terrace on the E. There are now no signs of huts.
It is suggested (RCAHMS 1956) that this homestead originated in the Romano-British period, and was re-occupied in medieval times.
RCAHMS 1956, visited 1945.

This homestead lies on a terrace on the moderately steep to steep SW-facing slope of Fasset Hill. It measures 28m from N to S by 26m within a robbed, 2m wide stone-faced bank. A track extends over the bank on the NE side of the enclosure whilst a modern stone wall has been superimposed on the SW side of the enclosure bank. Rubble spread out from the enclosure bank obscures the entrance which lies on the NW. The entrance leads into a sunken yard area measuring 19m from NE to SW by 14m. On the terrace to the SE, occupying the remainder of the enclosure, there is a possible house-stance comprising a slightly sunken platform measuring 7m from NNE to SSW by 5m which is open to the W. A small mound lies to the SW.
