(NT 82140 20240) Lintie Knowe (NAT) Cairn (NR)

OS 6" map, (1962).

A large, mutilated, grass-covered cairn, measuring 28.0m NE-SW by 18.0m and 1.5m high. It is known locally as 'Lintie Knowe'. (OS 6"map, annotated by O G S Crawford).

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 18 August 1960 and (RD) 14 june 1968.

No change.

Visited by OS (TRG) 12 August 1976.

The mutilated remains of this cairn, known locally as Lintie Knowe, are situated immediately SW of the road to Calroust within the area of narrow cross-contour rig (NT82SW 270). The cairn measures 29.5m from NE to SW by 18m and stands up to 1.5m in height. It has been quarried into in at least three places. About 50m to the W, there is a large irregular modern clearance cairn measuring 8m in diameter.
