OS 6"map, (1962).

This linear earthwork, consisting of a mound with a ditch on its SE side, starts at a point about 40 yds NE of cairn NT81SW 16, and ends on the steep slope of the cleuch that forms the head of the Heatherhope Burn. It is clear that the old road has broken through the earthwork, and has not passed through a gap provided for it.

This site, which is visible on recent vertical aerial photographs, was recorded as part of the Kale Water Survey project. The earthwork measures about 115m from SSW to NNE (NT 80988 14550 to 81051 14647).
