Accessing Scotland's Past Project

An axe made of greenstone, a dark, igneous rock, was found near the hamlet of Graden.

The axe probably dates from the Neolithic period, and measures 110mm by 65mm. It was originally held in Kelso Museum, but was passed to the National Museum of Scotland in the late nineteenth century.
