NT71SE 38 7851 1320 to 7866 1330.
NT 785 132 - NT 786 133. A much wasted linear earthwork descends the steep slope on the W side of the Raeshaw Burn from its crest at the edge of the moorland, passes the burn some 400 yds S of the circular clump of trees, and ascends the right bank to end where the slope becomes excessively steep. It thus cuts across the whole belt of useful land contained within the valley, as well as an old road on the W slope. Its total length is about 250 yds, of which 180 yds are on the left bank and 70 yds on the right. (See RCAHMS 1956 plan for NT71SE 10, showing the course of this earthwork.)
RCAHMS 1956, visited 1945 and 1947.
As described above.

Raeshaw Burn
Linear Earthwork
NT 78606 13260
This site was recorded as part of the Kale Water Survey project and is largely as described in the 1956 inventory on the date of visit. Comprising a single L-shaped length of turf bank on the W bank of Raeshaw Burn, it runs from SE to NW for 41m before turning NE and descending down slope for 118m (from NT 78583 13180 to NT 78645 13300). The line is broken by the burn but can be traced for 58m ascending the opposite bank (from NT 78652 13309 to NT 78709 13326).
Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 6 November 1999, with additional information from RCAHMS (BM) 13 June 2012
