OS 6" map, (1962).

The modern cairn on the summit of Standard Knowe stands on an ancient foundation, consisting of a more or less circular accumulation of quarried stone, some fairly large, which measures about 40' in diameter but now not more than 2' in height. No other features of the original cairn have survived.

RCAHMS 1956, visited 1947.

This cairn is as described above.

Visited by OS (WDJ), 12 September 1960.

The remains of this cairn now measure 15.0m in diameter and 0.8m high. It has a modern cairn and a stone shelter upon it.

On the summit of Standard Hill there is a cairn measuring 11m in diameter and 0.7m in height. On the W side of the cairn, a drystone pen been has been built over the remains of two earlier pens. The E side of this later pen has been built into the cairn.
