Archaeology Notes

NC66SE 14 c. 662 607.

(Area NC 662 607) A green island on Loch Tigh Choimhead (Loch an Tigh-choimhid). Loch of the Watch House, seemed to Morrison who reported it as a possible crannog to be founded on piles or wood of some kind and had become progressively more submerged in his memory.

F O Blundell 1913; Information contained in letter from H Morrison to F O Blundell.

There is no sign of a crannog in Loch an Tigh-choimhid. The three islands along the SW shore appear natural, and there is no trace of the feature shown on OS 6" map, (1964) at NC 6614 6086 in the NW corner of the loch.

Visited by OS (J M) 15 August 1978.
