A bronze chisel or punch was found in 1880 near the north end of Loch Laoghal (NC 62 50), about half a mile from the loch and close to NC65SW 7, and was exhibited to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 1894 by Dr J H W Laing. It is 3 3/4 ins long and half an inch square in cross-section at the upper end, tapering gradually to a rather blunt chisel-point of nearly the full width of the implement. Analysis indicated the presence of zinc in the alloy which suggeted to Anderson that it was late and he suggests a possible Early Iron Age date.
