OS 6" map, (1967).

Old Mertoun House, standing in the gardens of the present mansion (NT63SW 34) is oblong on plan and two storeys in height. It is dated 1677 (but see NT63SW 5 as evidence for an earlier house).

RCAHMS 1915.

This building is in use as the gardener's residence. It has been much repaired and an extra storey added. The date is written above the doorway.

Visited by OS(WDJ) 19 September 1962.
