St Cuthbert's Well (NAT)

OS 6" map, Roxburghshire, (1924).

There was a well, dedicated to St Cuthbert, at St Boswells. (This well is shown just over the boundary, in Maxton parish.)

J M Mackinley 1893; J R Walker 1883.

St Cuthbert is traditionally associated with the petrifying well at Maxton.

G Douglas 1899.

This well has been destroyed by the re-alignment of the Kelso - St Boswells road.

Visited by OS (WDJ) 12 September 1962.
