Old Houses, Lanton. The old Manor Inn, situated near the N end of the village, is an early 18th-century house, oblong on plan and measuring over all 21ft 4in by 41ft. It contains two storeys and a garret and now forms two dwellings. The rubble masonry is laid in mud mortar and is harled, the ashlar dressings being exposed. The entrance is central in the front and has a moulded and lugged architrave. On each side of it there are two windows with backset and chamfered margins. Above, there is a tier of five similar windows, all centred with the openings below. On the ground floor there is a room at each end of the house and a hall and staircase in between. The upper floor contains two rooms and a scullery. The much-altered, ruinous shell of a contemporary house stands near by to the W, opposite the smithy.
RCAHMS 1956, visited 12 July 1951.
The old Manor Inn, at NT 6192 2170, is now empty and under-going repairs. The other house mentioned by the RCAHMS is at NT 6190 2168.
