Standing Building Recording (19 May 2017)
NT 55012 85288 (NT58NW 28) The building’s appraisal undertaken on 19 May 2017 established that the site incorporates five broad phases of construction, dating from 1860 to the present, with a major extension in 1895, by the architect JM Dick Peddie. Used as a private residence and
then as a hotel, the building still retains a number of notable architectural features, such as the fine decorative cornice work in the large canted bay rooms of the original house. It is a good example of a mid-Victorian Villa, with later matched extension.
