Razors and fragments in National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland [NMAS]: GVB 27-8, HA 6; W-21.232; 1922-237.

A Jockenhovel 1980.

1212. (Socketed axe of Meldreth type). Settlement find. Socketed axe, corroded, green-black, untrimmed, haft ribs at right angle to loop, longitudinal scratch marks. Length 96mm, mouth 25 x 25mm, cutting edge 47mm, weight 160 gms. NMAS (1955.230/GVB 6a).

1231. (Socketed axe: Aylsham variant of Meldreth type). Settlement hoard find. Socketed axe, green-brown, slightly pitted and encrusted, hole in one face, longitudinal scratch marks. Length 119mm, mouth 25 x 27mm, cutting edge 54mm, weight 225 gms. NMAS (1922.231/GVB HA6).

1232. (Socketed axe: Aylsham variant of Meldreth type). Settlement hoard find. Socketed axe, encrusted, slightly corroded, brown, mouth slightly incomplete, trimmed, longitudinal scratch marks. Length 100mm, mouth 24 x 26mm, cutting edge 49mm, weight 160 gms. NMAS (1955.232/GVB2 HA6).

1573. (Socketed axe: related to South Welsh type). Settlement find, from close to the dorrway of a Late Bronze Age dwelling. Socketed axe, corroded, green, brittle, socket ribs. Length 104mm, mouth 28 x 28mm, cutting edge 56mm, weight 260 gms. NMAS (1922.233/GVB 3 Ha6).

1696. (Unclassified socketed axe). Socketed axe fragment, of a rectangular-sectioned axe. NMAS (1923.231).

1697. (Unclassified socketed axe). Socketed axe fragment. NMAS (XI14.65).

1698. (Unclassified socketed axe). Settlement find, socketed axe fragment. NMAS (V.21.65).

The axe no. 1573 is seen as 'possibly associated' with nos. 1212, 1231-2 and 1696-8. The clay mould fragments nos. 1713 A-d (NMRS NT57SE 1.23) may also have come 'from the site'.
