Archaeology Notes

NT56NE 22 5562 6585 to 5585 6610

NT 555 658 to NT 559 651. Pit-alignment and cropmarks, visible on an air photograph.

(Undated) information in NMRS.

A photo-copy of the air photograph shows a pit-alignment extending for about 300m from NT 5562 6585 to NT 5585 6610. The cropmark crosses gently undulating arable ground at 182m OD; there is no surface evidence of its course. The N end appears to head for, and terminate at, a steep natural scarp above Hope's Water.

Other obscure linear cropmarks visible on the AP form no coherent pattern and have no surface trace.
