Archaeology Notes

NT55NW 16 506 550.

An ingot of dark-coloured bronze in the form of a rough flat axe, 2 1/2 ins long by 1 1/2 ins across the broadest end, found in 1893 at Hillhouse (NT 506 550) was in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1894, on loan from T Scott ARSA, Bowden. It is now in the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow (Accession no: B. 1914.266).

(Name cited as Millhouse, Lauder: unclassified flat axe). Single find. Flat axe fragment (?), slightly corroded, black, length 62mm, butt 16mm, cutting edge 44mm, wight 90 gms. Hunterian Museum, Glasgow (B.1914-266).
