Archaeology Notes

NT51SE 6 5919 1213.

Scooped Enclosure, Rob's Cleuch, Bonchester Hill. Former cultivation has largely obliterated a settlement, of the scooped enclosure type, which is situated in rough pasture on the S side of Rob's Cleuch, just above the plantation.. All that remains is a roughly circular hollow, some 95 ft. in diameter, the lower half of which has been more deeply excavated than the rest and contains two subsidiary scoops. There are now no traces of any enclosure wall or of internal structures.
