Archaeology Notes

NT51NW 1 528 190.

A felsite axe, found at Westerhouses (now Horsleyhill Cottages: NT 528 190) was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1947-8 by the Trustees of the Marquess of Lothian, as part of the Monteviot Collection. (Accession no: AF 887). It is polished, pear-shaped, pointed at the butt, with a slightly oblique cutting edge and measures 8 ins in length by 2 3/4 ins in breadth.
