Archaeology Notes

NT50NE 14 5761 0828.

NT 5761 0828. The denuded remains of a probable settlement lie in a pasture field just below the crest of a low ridge. The principal surviving feature is a 75.0m long crescentic bank with a 6.0m wide terrace on its outer side. The bank is 1.1m high externally, 0.2m high internally and the terrace may indicate the presence of a former ditch. Vague traces of a curving bank to the N may be associated with the work. The area is covered by rig and furrow and this probably contributed to the partial destruction of the earthwork.

Surveyed at 1:2500.
